Welcome to The United Arc

The United Arc provides an array of flexible services for individuals of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. During fiscal year 2015, The United Arc provided services to more than 900 individuals and families from 47 communities in Franklin and Hampshire counties and in surrounding communities. We are pleased to be serving citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities for over 63 years!

Person Centered Planning

Clarify a Vision for the Future
Person Centered Planning is a collaborative planning process that collects relevant information in identifying the capacities of a person, group, and/or business in order to clarify a vision for the future and identify steps and processes along the way to support that vision.

Come and join us to look at various planning tools and to determine which planning tool might meet the unique needs for you and your family member.

Adaptive Ice Skating

(Multiple dates and locations)


Need something fun to do this winter?

DCR is offering free adaptive skating in Holyoke, Worcester, and Revere.
Each of the hosting rinks will provide free equipment including wheel chairs and ice sleds. There will also be many interactive activities including obstacle courses, power chair games, and more.

Ultimate Sports in Westfield, MA

Weekly events are held at Westfield State
All activities are FREE and non-committal

Basketball, Rock Climbing, Whirlyball and more with the Ultimate Sports Program from the Association for Community Living.  These are open and inclusive to all abilities.

Thursday Jan 14th, 2016 -- Basic Rights in Special Education


The Basic Rights workshop provides families with an introduction to their rights and responsibilities under:
  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
  • Massachusetts Special Education Law

  • This workshop is designed to help parents learn to be effective partners with their child’s school to decide their child’s eligibility for special education, and to plan, make decisions and monitor their child’s progress in school.

The United Arc is committed to ensuring that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities have full access to systems and opportunities that uphold human rights, enhance growth and wellbeing, offer choice and promote full inclusion in society.  This mission is carried out by providing services, conducting advocacy, identifying resources and creating community partnerships.
